Taillight failure

 Today this failure popped up:

So that was an easy fix, only one side was broken but I replaced both. The lightbulbs that came out were 5W, which is correct according to the manuel. They lightbulbs I purchased were however 10W

water leakage

 Last week or so I noticed some waterdrops via the front ceilinglight. And it happened again, so I was wondering where it was coming from. I thought it was maybe via the antenna as they did mounted one at the front middle. So perhaps water was going via the antenna cable just above the ceiling light? All looked good on the top

And underneath as well, no signs of water:

On closer inspection on the window rubber seal I spotted these corrossion spots:

And this must have been causing miminal leakage underneath the rubber somehow, which was evident on the inside of the roof edge, a few small rust spots and water found it's way into the ceiling light.

Since the car was parked in the garage the last couple of years this now manifest with the rainy weather season and being parked outside on the street. It is minimal though but time to tackle this. Next I found two small issue's at the rearside doorwindows where a little bit of rubber trim is missing in the pilar on both sides:

First I had everything sprayed with rust converter and primer:

Next I had put black kit on it for final protection, including under the top window rubber. Not the cleanest job but sufficient for now. 

While scraping off a little excess of spray and kit some small paints chips manifested, so that needs to be resprayed next time.

It was rainy last night and today and so far it looks ok though. I think I will drive it through the car wash so I can have a better look. In fact I just did that and it looks dry:

And after another rainy night I had it inspected this morning and all is still dry. Good.

I also wonder what all these connectors (3 seperate cables with connectors) are used for, which are coming out of the ceiling, I can only identify one which can be fitted into a module (which is not present in the ceiling headlight). I think that one is for the remote control (which is not working - another item on my todo list).

Lancia Kappa booklets / manuals

I was also lucky to have the original Lancia map with the service, warranty and manual booklets.

Unfortunately it does not have the Lancia code card with it. Photo example:

Furthermore the warranty booklet did contain the registration of the Lancia mobility care service. I can see which company sold the car and to whom it was registered. Funny to see it was sold to a company in the city where I';m living:

Also the booklet showed the first maintenance intervals had been taken care off up to 88.000 km. So any further maintenance history is missing.

And at the time I bought also a new old stock Lancia radio for my K Coupe, which I now have installed in the SW. It did came with the papers and keys:

And separate I bought this original Lancia radio/navigation manual (German language). So effectively I have the whole paperwork complete.

Lancia CODE system LED fix

 I had noticed this already for a while, the centre LED never blinked - it's the security Lancia CODE-system related to the keys. Still the car could be started, so I figured the LED might be bad. So now finally time to have this checked.

One side, brown cable, was soldered directly with a resistor to the connector.

The purple wire turned out to be loose. Which very likely was the culprit. I managed to fiddle it back in, which indeed did the trick. But still it was not very firm fitted.

The LED was a special one with two long thin connection feet. So I put everything back and swapped this unit around from my other car. But both are working OK now.

Yes, so now it's working OK in my Kappa SW. Another items off the list:

Toolkit

When I purchased the car it did came with a toolkit (a jack and a sparewheel as well). I was just triggered by this auction on Catawiki. Curios to see for how much it goes:

As such I had mine checked and it was a bit dirty but complete! Two tools are missing though but these are apparently optional tools

So time to clean it a little with soapwater and this did worked out quite well

I was curious though where this toolkit should be fitted. So I looked it up in the manual. Apparently it's put in the sparewheel.

And it also provided more insight about each of the available tools:

Apparently the optionial tool nr 1 is a centrepin for light metal rimms.  And nr. 5 is a special key to manually open/close the optional roof window. 

Indicator stalk rubbers replacement

A common issue, worn out stalk rubbers: 

but my donor car had very good ones. Somehow I once managed to obtain these, so time to have these swapped around as well. Details details
